Sony Pictures has scheduled an untitled Marvel Comics-based movie for October 8, 2021, according to the box office reporting company Exhibitor Relations.

Sony has not publicly confirmed the date, which would presumably be for a film that ties into Sony’s Marvel Universe – its collection of Spider-Man related spin-off films and characters that launched with 2018’s Venom and continues in July 31’s Morbius.

Sony has several Marvel movies currently announced in development, including Venom 2, Kraven the Hunter, Silver Sable, Black Cat, Madame Web, and Sinister Six.

As for which film might land that date, it’s unclear. The first Venom film released October 1, 2018, with the sequel scheduled for October 2 of this year. Sony could be staking a claim for a third Venom film – though one year would be a tight turnaround without filming back-to-back – or the studio could be using that as a launch date for key Marvel-based franchises with another movie.
